A Letter to Lucy by Lissa Muscatine 9/4/2001 Dear Lucy,
We think so often of the times we spent with Jacob at Caneel, hearing about his latest writing project, a new twist in his novel, a great book he had just read. Our memories of Jacob are nothing but vivid- the penetrating intellect, the searing wit, and the affectionate advice he routinely dispensed to his mother and sister over dinner. These brief glimpses left us with indelible images of his extraordinary life.
While the loss of Jacob will dwell in your heart every day, we know that you will find comfort and solace in the wonder of who he was. His goodness and humanity were so evident, even to those who didn't know him well. And what wonderful friendships he built and sustained over the years.
Yes, his time here was too brief. Yet what an effect he had on the world around him and on the many people who came into his life.
We will always cherish the times we shared with Jacob. We feel very blessed to have known him.
Please know that you, Naomi- and Jacob- remain in our thoughts and hearts every day.
Love,
Lissa & Brad << Previous | Next >> |
